How to Change Your Ticketmaster Password

Shireen StephensonPublishedApril 16, 2025

Calling all Swifties: What does Taylor Swift have to do with changing your Ticketmaster password?

If you purchased tickets for the last leg of Taylor’s Eras Tour in Indianapolis in Nov 2024, you probably know the answer. Due to scammers hijacking accounts, Swifties were advised to change their passwords. And due to an abundance of caution, Ticketmaster restricted ticket transfers to within 72 hours of Taylor’s concert.

Although protests about the sudden policy change were swift (pun intended), the fact remains that many Taylor Swift fans were left shell-shocked when their accounts were hijacked, and their tickets were transferred without authorization.

That ticketing debacle demonstrated the importance of setting strong passwords for every account. After all, Taylor Swift tickets can fetch a fortune on the resale market.

Below, we show you what a strong password looks like and how to perform a Ticketmaster password reset – plus the best way to keep your tickets safe from the hands of hackers and scammers.

Step-by-Step Guide to Changing Your Ticketmaster Account Password

Troubleshooting Login and Password Issues

Why Isn’t Ticketmaster Accepting My Password?

Before resetting your Ticketmaster password, let’s explore the reasons why the platform may be rejecting your password

  • You unintentionally created an account with a mistyped or incorrect email address.
  • Your account hasn’t been verified.
  • Your account has been hijacked or compromised.

If you created an account with a mistyped or incorrect email address, your best option is to sign in with the mistyped or incorrect email address – and then update it in your Profile Details.

Need to verify your account? Ticketmaster provides three ways to do this: by email, mobile phone, or landline number.

If you’re logged in on multiple devices or browsers, be sure to log out from all of them, clear your browser's history and cookies, and then log in again using just one device and browser.

Finally, if you can’t sign in at all to update your password:

  • Head to the Account Sign In page and select “Forgot Password?” to reset your password. Be sure to enter your email address and then indicate where you’d like your one-time verification code sent: email or phone. If you chose email, look for a reset email from customer_support@email.ticketmaster.com
  • If you’re using a phone, you’ll get a call to receive your code. After entering your code, you’ll create your new password before tapping the blue “Reset Password” button to complete the process (see images below).
  • Contact Ticketmaster Fan Support for help. You can submit a request by filling out this form, tap the “Chat” icon on the bottom right corner of the help page, or call 1-800-653-8000.

Create a Strong New Password

In May 2024, the hacker group ShinyHunters announced that it had stolen data from 560 million Ticketmaster users and were offering them for resale on a hacker forum.

The group boasted that it managed to access Ticketmaster’s Snowflake account after breaching a third-party Belarusian-based contractor’s platform.

Weak passwords remain a primary entry point for cybercriminals, making strong passwords a necessity in preventing such unauthorized access.

So, what does a strong password look like? According to NIST and CISA, a strong password should be:

  • Between 15 to 16 characters in length (the longer the better)
  • Consist of mixed-case letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Unique for each account

Both NIST and CISA also recommend the use of password managers to generate and store unique passwords for every account.

Although it can be tempting to use ChatGPT to create your passwords, here’s the #1 reason why you shouldn’t: everyone’s favorite AI chatbot may come up with reasonably strong passwords but it has ZERO ability to keep it safe for you – unlike a password manager like LastPass.

Managing Your Ticketmaster Account

Updating Personal Account Information

A key part of protecting your Ticketmaster account is to ensure your information is updated. This aids in faster recovery, should your account be compromised. In your account:

  • “Profile Details” lets you update your email address, password, phone number, and location.
  • “Billing Information” lets you add payment methods and payout accounts (to receive payments when someone buys tickets from you).
  • “Connected Accounts” lets you add PENN Cash (which you can redeem for tickets to events and experiences), Audience Rewards (which lets you earn points for exciting rewards), Verizon (which makes you eligible for special Verizon ticket offers), and Citi (which gives you access to exclusive Citi ticket offers).
  • “Accessible Tickets” allows you to purchase accessible seating tickets for venues.
  • “My Settings” has two options: “Manage Alerts” lets you create customized alerts for upcoming events, presales, and offers based on your preferences, and “Manage Preferences” allows you to select your favorite entertainment categories and locations -- so you can get those customized weekly alerts.
